Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a sacred healing art practiced for over a millennium.
In 1922, Dr. Mikao Usui used the laying on of hands on specific parts of a person's body to direct healing energy, which flows autonomously, following the therapist's healing intention to the area or areas affected by the illness. Energy is intelligent.
This energy automatically flows to where it is most needed in order to dissolve blockages and restore the body's energy balance, returning the person to their natural well-being and a great peace of mind after a session.
Master Mikao Usui wrote the principles of the method:
The Secret Art of Inviting Happiness.
Spiritual medicine for many illnesses.
Just for today,
I am calm,
I trust,
I am grateful.
I work honestly,
I am kind.
In the morning and at night, sit with your hands together and repeat these words aloud and with your heart.
The 5 Principles of Reiki
Just for today, I'm calm .
"When the heart is full of patience, everything can be put in order; when it is not patient, everything falls apart. When the heart is full of anger, words are spoken harshly; when it is free from anger, words are peaceful."
Just for today, I trust :
"When the heart is full of errors, others seem frightening; when it is free from error, there is nothing to fear."
Just for today, I am grateful .
"When the heart is full of greed, the desires are endless; when it is free from greed, nothing extra is needed."
Just for today, I work honestly : "When the heart is full of obstacles, others are harmed; when it is free of obstacles, no one is harmed."
Just for today, I'm being kind .
"When the heart is full of ego, the kindness of others is ignored; when it is free of ego, the kindness of others is appreciated."
What should I expect from my first session?
A Reiki session lasts 45 minutes.
The patient will have an initial conversation about their issues, health status, and what leads them to seek Reiki therapy.
The therapist will explain what will happen during the session and how the Reiki treatment will be performed.
The patient will remain fully clothed throughout the entire treatment session. Shoes, glasses, belts, and jewelry may be removed for their comfort, only if the patient wishes.
The patient will be asked to lie down on a properly sanitized examination table.
The therapist places their hands on or near the patient's body; this is explained before the session begins.
The therapist moves along the patient's body, placing their hands on the head, torso, and legs.
A Reiki treatment is also an intuitive practice - beyond all conventional positions, and therefore the therapist adjusts the treatment accordingly, depending on what they feel is most appropriate for the patient's well-being.
Why does Reiki involve payment?
A true Reiki therapist never charges for Reiki .
In fact, Reiki practitioners want to give Reiki .
By studying Reiki philosophy and applying Reiki every day, it becomes natural for everyone to experience the benefits of the ceaseless, immeasurable, magnificent, and revitalizing Energy of the Universe.
The therapist dedicates hours of their day to attending to people and guiding them in the self-healing process.
In this sense, it is fair and normal that he be paid for his knowledge, for the hours dedicated to the patient, and for the prior and subsequent study of each case. It is part of the reciprocal energy of the universe.
Therefore, it is reasonable to charge for the good condition of the space, its maintenance, and any eventual relocations.
Symbols in Reiki?
In Reiki, there are four symbols , and each one represents a specific aspect of energy.
The different symbols represent the keys and wisdom of each level.
Those who practice and apply them deeply will understand their meaning and scope. Practice without symbols is possible, but using them refines the technique and allows one to achieve superior results.
What types of diseases does it help treat?
Reiki involves the transfer of vital energy that brings the body into balance, generating a feeling of well-being and promoting the physical and mental health of the patient.
Some of the benefits of Reiki are:
To help in the treatment of depression.
To reduce the symptoms of stress, anxiety, and trauma.
Relieve the symptoms of insomnia.
Reduce chronic pain
Assisting the mother and fetus during pregnancy
To improve the quality of life.
REIKI: UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
It is affection without any limitations.
This term is sometimes associated with other terms such as true altruism, complete love.
Reiki energy , when donated, takes on this characteristic.
Those who practice Reiki know that this unconditional love is fundamental when we do self-treatment sessions (when we take care of ourselves) or treatment sessions for others (when we take care of others).
To give, without expecting anything in return.
